Ash and Fire: Black Amazons of Dahomey

This album is dedicated to the Agojie – the women warriors of Dahomey, whose history is complex and not without contradiction.

They were strength, discipline, and a weapon of their king. Their path held not only courage and martial skill, but also participation in practices that cannot be seen as unambiguous today.

Akari does not justify, and does not condemn.
Akari remembers.

What you hear is not a verdict, but a voice from the past, as it was.
